Queensland secures multiple international sporting events ahead of Brisbane 2032 Olympics

The Queensland Government has confirmed a series of high‑profile international sporting events that will boost tourism and the local economy ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. It will host the World Archery Para Championships on the Gold Coast from 30 August to 6 September 2027, featuring more than 300 athletes from over 50 nations and serving as a qualification event for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics. Queensland also locked in the first ANZAC Day Bledisloe Cup Tests between the Wallabies and the All Blacks for 2027, 2029 and 2031, creating a trans‑Tasman showcase of rugby. In addition, the state secured exclusive Australian hosting rights for the Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup homecoming series against Brazil, with matches scheduled in Townsville and Brisbane this September and ticket sales already exceeding 90 percent, many from outside the host regions.

Separately, Townsville hosted its inaugural YouFor2032 Regional Para Testing Day, providing North Queensland athletes with a pathway to compete at the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games and expanding the region’s talent pool for future international competition.
