Queensland towns rank high in luck study amid Australian fire warnings

A new analysis by LifeFlight Lotteries has identified several north-west Queensland towns as some of the state’s luckiest locations. The study calculated a “luckiest score” by combining lottery winnings with lifestyle metrics such as marriage and divorce rates, average monthly income, and commuting times.

Weipa was ranked as the luckiest location in Queensland with a score of 59.90, driven by high monthly incomes and short commute times. Other high-ranking areas include Toowoomba, Moranbah, Mount Isa, and Julia Creek. Mount Isa secured fourth place, noted for its short 12-minute average commute.

Separately, residents on Australia’s Mid North Coast are preparing for an early bushfire danger period due to El Niño patterns. The Bureau of Meteorology predicts above-average temperatures and below-average rainfall. Experts recommend using mulch and ensuring adequate drainage and water supplies to protect gardens and homes from the heightened fire risks and intense heat.
