Queensland voters favor spending cuts to address budget deficit

New Resolve Political Monitor polling indicates that half of Queensland voters support reducing state spending to address debt and deficit issues. This follows a recent credit rating downgrade by S&P Global, which lowered the state's rating from AA+ to AA due to deficits linked to Olympic infrastructure spending and economic headwinds.

The survey, conducted between October 6 and 10, reveals a disconnect between One Nation's rising primary voting intention and voter confidence in their economic management. While One Nation's support has steadied above 20 per cent, only 13 per cent of voters believe the party is best suited to handle the state budget.

Regarding economic management, 35 per cent of respondents identified the Crisafulli LNP government as the better option, compared to 21 per cent for Steven Miles’ Labor government. Approximately 22 per cent of voters remained undecided or felt no party was best suited for the task.
