Queer Lisboa 30 features ‘Tangles’ and ‘Camp Miasma’
The 30th edition of the Queer Lisboa film festival has featured significant cinematic works, including the closing film ‘Tangles’ and the horror film ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’.
‘Tangles’, an animated feature directed by Leah Nelson, is based on Sarah Leavitt’s graphic novel. The film follows Sarah, an activist returning to her conservative hometown to care for her mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. The project, which involved a decade of development, was produced with support from Lauren Miller Rogen, Seth Rogen, and Vicky Patel.
Additionally, Jane Schoenbrun’s ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’ arrived in Portuguese commercial theaters following a special screening at the festival. The film, which won the Queer Palm at Cannes, serves as a queer subversion of the slasher genre, focusing on a fictional horror franchise being revitalized through a modern, female-driven lens.
