Queer Lisboa festival hits record attendance at 30th edition
The 30th edition of the Queer Lisboa International Queer Film Festival concluded with record-breaking attendance, drawing more than 11,500 spectators. This represents a significant increase in participation for the event.
French filmmaker Marine Atlan’s debut feature, ‘La Gradiva’, was a major winner, securing both the Best Feature Film and the Audience Award. The film, which previously won at the Cannes Critics’ Week, follows French students on a trip to Pompeii and Naples.
In the documentary category, Lorena Ros’ ‘Corren las Liebres’ (Up and Running) received both the Best Documentary and the Audience Award. The film examines the experiences of the transgender ex-prisoner population facing homelessness in Barcelona. Other notable mentions included ‘Baby Jackfruit Baby Guava’ by Nông Nhật Quang and the Queer Art competition winner ‘Nuestro Cuerpo Es una Estrella que Se Expande’ by the Hernández Velasco siblings.
