Queluz National Palace hosts modern premiere of Alessandro Scarlatti opera

The opera ‘La Statira’ by Alessandro Scarlatti is set for its modern world premiere in a concert version at the Queluz National Palace. Part of the ‘Noites de Queluz’ cycle, the performance is led by the Divino Sospiro orchestra under the direction of conductor Massimo Mazzeo.

The production is the result of an international research and critical edition project titled ‘Da Urbe ao Atlântico’. This initiative involved collaboration between the Divino Sospiro, the Center for 18th-Century Musical Studies of Portugal, the Conservatório Nazionale Superiore Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, and the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa.

The project aims to promote international mobility for teachers and students while building a lasting network between Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese musical institutions. The performance features a mix of internationally established professionals and students from the partner institutions, presented as a historically informed production.
