Quentin Tarantino to debut stage play in London's West End

Director Quentin Tarantino will make his theatrical debut with the play ‘The Popinjay Cavalier,’ scheduled to run at London’s Phoenix Theatre in early 2027. The production, which Tarantino is both writing and directing, is described as a swashbuckling comedy of deception and disguise set in 1830s Europe.

Sacha Baron Cohen will star in the leading role as Rupert Sebastian Thomas Jr., a character described as the world’s greatest actor, whose journey to Paris takes a dangerous turn after insulting the French. The production is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sonia Friedman Productions and will feature elements of swordplay and acrobatics.

Previews are set to begin on February 23, 2027, followed by an official opening on March 18, 2027. The run is expected to continue until June 13, 2027. This project comes as Tarantino also prepares for the release of ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,’ a sequel to his 2019 film ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,’ which is written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher.
