Querétaro announces security and fireworks plans for Independence Day

Authorities in Querétaro, Mexico, have announced security and entertainment plans for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. A security operation will span 18 municipalities from September 12 to September 16, involving state, municipal, and federal police to monitor civic events, tourist areas, and commercial zones.

In the capital, road closures and inspection filters will be implemented in the city center. Specifically, Avenida Zaragoza and surrounding streets will close on September 16 for the Civic-Military Parade.

Regarding the festivities, Lynda Rangel Méndez, the state government's chief official, confirmed that low-power pyrotechnics will be used during the September 15 celebrations. This decision follows dialogues with advocacy groups requesting the removal of fireworks to protect animals and sensitive populations. Officials expect between 7,000 and 8,000 attendees at Plaza de Armas and Jardín Zenea for the free events.
