Mexico highway authorities deploy traffic and security measures

Authorities in Querétaro and surrounding regions are implementing various measures to manage traffic and security on the Mexico-Querétaro highway and local routes due to ongoing construction on Highway 57.

The Querétaro State Mobility Agency (AMEQ) reported that a new traffic operation on Prolongación Constituyentes has reduced travel times between El Mirador and Universidad Cuauhtémoc by approximately 20% to 30%. This intervention follows a significant increase in vehicle volume, which rose from 18,000 to 30,000 daily units due to federal works on Highway 57. The operation utilizes 30 traffic assistants, drones, and strategic cameras to monitor congestion.

In terms of security, the National Guard has presented new tactical equipment for operations in Querétaro, including riot gear and various firearms. Additionally, the National Guard is focusing on preventing accidents on the Mexico-Querétaro highway by targeting speeding and cellphone use through strategies like 'Operativo Carrusel'.

In Coahuila, a new surveillance protocol is being prepared for the 'Los Chorros' section of Highway 57. This multi-agency effort involving the State Prosecutor, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard aims to prevent accidents and ensure rapid lane clearance in the event of incidents.
