Querétaro authorities investigate man for notary impersonation and fraud
Authorities in Querétaro are investigating an individual, identified as Roberto “N” (alias “El Notario”), for aggravated generic fraud. The individual allegedly impersonated a notary to provide services to an elderly woman seeking to deed a property in El Marqués.
Eric Gudiño Torres, the state Secretary of Government, confirmed that the suspect holds no public faith credentials and is not a legitimate notary. The State Attorney General's Office has linked the suspect to the case, and he has been placed in preventive detention. The government is now investigating whether any legitimate notary offices had any involvement or responsibility in these fraudulent activities.
Separately, Gudiño Torres addressed the reduction of testament costs during the “September, Month of the Testament” campaign, stating that notaries have not expressed dissatisfaction with the 500-peso price decrease.
