Querétaro Congress analyzes proposal for State Care System
The Querétaro State Congress is analyzing a proposal to establish a State Care System. The initiative, presented by Deputy Claudia Díaz Gayou, aims to recognize the rights of both those requiring assistance and the individuals performing caregiving duties.
The proposed system seeks to establish shared responsibilities among families, the state, the community, and the private sector. It focuses on strengthening support for the elderly, people with disabilities, and children. During a recent forum, Díaz Gayou noted that in Mexico, approximately 31.7 million people perform care work, with three out of four being women, who dedicate an average of 39 hours per week to these tasks.
The initiative has been referred to a commission for further discussion and analysis. The goal is to ensure that families receive support rather than being left to manage caregiving responsibilities alone.
