Querétaro Congress deputies advocate for legislative openness

Legislators from the Movimiento Ciudadano party in Querétaro are advocating for the state Congress to remain an open and plural space for political and social debate.

Deputy Teresa Calzada argued that the legislative body should be accessible to various political expressions and social groups, noting that the institution is designed for the confrontation of ideas and the creation of agreements. She cited an instance where a workers' union was eventually allowed to enter the premises to present demands as an example of necessary accessibility.

Similarly, Deputy Paul Ospital Carrera emphasized that the Congress must be diverse and tolerant, rejecting the implementation of selective lists to determine who may enter or use the facilities. Ospital Carrera criticized the PAN party, accusing them of creating divisions similar to those they criticize in Morena, and maintained that the legislative house should not restrict access to citizens, collectives, or different political forces.
