Querétaro cultural projects receive increased PACMyC funding

The Municipal and Community Cultures Support Program (PACMyC) has increased its budget from two million pesos in 2025 to eight million pesos for 2026 to support cultural initiatives in Querétaro, Mexico.

State Secretary of Culture Ana Paola López Birlain and federal official Diego Prieto Hernández announced that the funding will benefit 71 projects across 16 municipalities. These initiatives focus on preserving, documenting, and transmitting cultural knowledge and traditional practices.

Supported projects include textile crafts such as embroidery and waist loom weaving, as well as work with wool, palm, and clay. Other areas of focus include traditional gastronomy, indigenous clothing, and regional music and dance, such as Huasteca music and Concheros dances. Additionally, the program funds linguistic revitalization efforts, including Otomí pedagogical grammar and Hñähñu language rap, alongside community museums and traditional medicine documentation.
