Querétaro deputy calls for labor investigation into Mexico-Querétaro Train project

Querétaro state deputy Paul Ospital Carrera has called for state intervention to investigate labor condition violations involving workers on the Mexico-Querétaro Train project. Ospital expressed doubt that federal authorities would sufficiently investigate contractors managed by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

Reports from workers, primarily from Oaxaca, Hidalgo, and Tamaulipas, allege grueling conditions including 12-hour shifts, seven-day work weeks, and employees sleeping in their vehicles. Ospital has submitted formal requests to both the state Secretariat of Labor and the federal Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) to ensure oversight and compliance with housing requirements for workers stationed far from home.

Additionally, Ospital invited Santiago Nieto to support the workers' grievances, suggesting that attention should be directed toward labor rights rather than political image campaigns related to the project.
