Querétaro Education Secretary addresses teacher pay and school threats
Martha Elena Soto Obregón, the Secretary of Education for Querétaro, has addressed two distinct issues regarding the state's educational system. During the First State Meeting of Normal Schools, Soto advocated for the protection of the teaching profession and proposed that students training to become teachers should receive a formal salary rather than a scholarship. She called on the federal government to provide the necessary resources to ensure these future educators are compensated like any other professional.
Separately, Soto addressed rumors circulating on social media regarding alleged threats against various educational institutions in Querétaro. She urged the public not to spread unverified information that causes fear and confirmed that the municipal Cyber Police and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) are investigating the origin of these messages. Soto clarified that there will be no suspension of classes at the high schools mentioned in the posts and encouraged parents to monitor their children's online activities.
