Querétaro Electoral Institute proposes $68.9 million public‑fund redistribution to eight parties

The Instituto Electoral del Estado de Querétaro (IEEQ) presented a proposal to reallocate 68,860,727.02 pesos of public financing for the second half of 2026 among eight political parties: PAN, PRI, Movimiento Ciudadano, PVEM, Morena, PT, and the newly registered national parties Partido Paz and Somos México. The redistribution stems from the registration of the two new parties, which took effect on 1 July 2026. Coordinadora Diana Jazmín Sánchez Martínez said the calculation follows the total public financing approved in January and complies with federal and state electoral laws. The proposal, submitted to the Comisión de Organización Electoral, Prerrogativas y Partidos Políticos, is informational and will have legal effect only after approval by the Consejo General. Council president Violeta Larissa Meza Lavadores thanked the coordination team, while electoral councilor Karla Isabel Olvera Moreno emphasized the need to clarify when new parties become eligible for public funds.
