Querétaro launches summer cultural program with drama festival, historic‑center markets and 495th anniversary events

The state capital of Querétaro is hosting a slate of free cultural activities in July 2026. The 24th Festival of Young Drama runs from July 23‑26 at the Museum of the City, featuring dramatized readings, workshops, conversations and installations by playwrights and performers from across Mexico.

During the summer vacation period the municipal government has temporarily authorized about 200 street merchants to operate in the historic centre, with vendors setting up from early morning until early evening under guidelines aimed at boosting visitor traffic and local commerce.

To mark the 495th anniversary of Santiago de Querétaro, the Secretariat of Culture has scheduled a program from July 24‑28 that includes symphonic concerts by the youth symphonic band, workshops, and performances at venues such as the former railway station, the Cerro de las Campanas Museum plaza, the Manuel Gómez Morín cultural centre, the City Theatre and Alameda Hidalgo.

From July 31 to August 2, the Centre of the Arts will host the free "Experiencia Ambiental del Semidesierto," bringing together cactus producers, specialists and civil‑society groups from nine states for talks, workshops, culinary events and activities promoting sustainable consumption and waste reduction.
