Querétaro International Airport plans terminal expansion
The government of Querétaro is planning to expand the passenger terminal at Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) to accommodate rising demand. Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, the state's Secretary of Sustainable Development, stated that a project is being developed with the goal of presenting it by the end of this year.
The expansion aims to address the needs of both increasing passenger numbers and airline requirements, including the potential arrival of new companies. Currently, the airport is described as being slightly saturated, with space availability occasionally reaching 2.08 square meters per passenger, compared to the IATA standard of approximately 1.8 square meters.
While terminal space is a priority, the airport maintains sufficient capacity for aircraft movement, with the ability to handle up to 59 take-offs and landings per hour.
