Querétaro issues 836 new disability parking permits and uncovers three fraudulent cards

The Municipality of Querétaro’s Institute of Human Rights and Inclusion reported that 836 new disability parking permits (tarjetones) were issued in 2026, bringing the total number issued since the program’s launch in 2007 to 5,759, with 2,505 still active. Each permit costs 147 pesos, can be obtained in about 15 minutes at the Institute’s Centro Cívico office, and is valid for three years. The permits feature an authenticity hologram and grant access to reserved parking spaces across the state’s 18 municipalities.

During the same period, three counterfeit permits were detected. Holders of the fake cards face removal of the permit and a fine of roughly 10,000 Mexican pesos, split between a 7,000‑peso parking violation and a 3,000‑peso towing charge. The Institute also highlighted its outreach efforts, including 88 workshops, 102 disability‑focused activities, and 49 "Yo Respeto" campaigns to promote proper use of exclusive parking spaces.
