Querétaro media outlets complete gender perspective training

The second generation of the ‘Medios con Perspectiva’ (Media with Perspective) workshop has concluded in Querétaro, Mexico. Organized by the State Secretariat of Women in coordination with the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ), the program trained 25 representatives from 14 different media outlets.

The training focused on providing journalistic tools to incorporate a gender perspective, identify stereotypes, and ensure the dignified representation of women. Key topics included inclusive and non-sexist language, the prevention of revictimization, and the social responsibility of information dissemination.

Sonia Rocha Acosta, head of the Secretariat of Women, emphasized that the initiative aims to revise existing communication practices and narratives, stating, ‘Words matter, images matter, and approaches matter.’ The program seeks to continue building alliances between academic institutions and the media to promote respect for women's rights and a culture of peace.
