Querétaro municipal transport system wins national mobility award

The Querétaro municipal government has received the 2026 Best Local Government Practices Award in the Urban Mobility category, presented by Alcaldes de México. The recognition highlights the success of the municipality's Integral Transportation System, which aims to provide a multimodal and accessible service for students, workers, and families.

The municipality invested 304 million pesos to modernize its fleet, enhance monitoring systems, and integrate with the state-level Qrobus system. This investment included the development of the Municipal Bus Platform and a 23% increase in the fleet, which now totals 169 vehicles, including 121 buses and 48 vans. All units are equipped with six cameras connected to a monitoring platform and validators integrated with the Qrobus app to allow for free transfers and real-time route consultation.

The system offers several free services, including school, university, night, and community transportation. According to municipal data, the system benefits over 490,000 people and has recorded more than 5.5 million boardings during the current administration, resulting in an estimated savings of over 167 million pesos for local families.
