Querétaro municipality implements 11 citizen participation mechanisms

The municipality of Querétaro has implemented all 11 citizen participation instruments required by the State of Querétaro Transparency and Access to Public Information Law. These mechanisms, managed by the Secretariat of Citizen Participation, include tools such as plebiscites, referendums, citizen initiatives, neighborhood consultations, and participatory budgeting.

Beatriz Marmolejo Rojas, Secretary of Citizen Participation, reported that the administration has established 12 thematic councils, seven delegational councils, and 322 community committees. These structures involve 1,650 permanent participants tasked with evaluating work plans and setting administrative goals. To date, the municipality has conducted three citizen dialogues and received a request for drainage works via the Public Works with Citizen Participation mechanism.
