Querétaro Municipality pays 2.8 million pesos in housing insurance claims
The Municipality of Querétaro has paid more than 2.88 million pesos in claims through its Housing Insurance program during 2026. These benefits are available to taxpayers who made advance annual property tax payments in January 2026 and met the insurer's requirements.
Finance Secretary Carlos León reported that individual payouts via check have ranged from 10,000 to 85,000 pesos. The policy covers various incidents, including fires, hydrometeorological phenomena, theft of household goods or merchandise, glass damage, civil liability, and certain pet-related issues such as medication reimbursements.
Weather-related damage, primarily from rainfall, accounts for the highest volume of claims with 464 cases reported. Of these, 77 have been fully paid, while others are currently under analysis, awaiting documentation, or pending site visits.
