Querétaro official calls for national protocol for children of feminicide victims
Sonia Rocha, the Secretary of Women for Querétaro, has called for the creation of a national protocol to support children who become indirect victims of feminicide. Rocha noted that many children currently lack sufficient psychological and specialized accompaniment following the murder of their mothers.
She emphasized that the issue exceeds the current scope of women's secretariats, which primarily focus on adult women. Rocha highlighted that children often end up under the care of relatives or, in some cases, face situations where the perpetrator is their own father. She urged the federal government to coordinate various institutions to establish a comprehensive national framework, noting that current legal, administrative, and budgetary conditions are insufficient for local women's agencies to manage this specialized care alone.
