Querétaro officials plan highway works to mitigate flooding
Authorities in Querétaro are planning infrastructure works to mitigate flooding on Federal Highway 57 near the Tremec area. Pío X Salgado Tovar, Secretary of Urban Development and Public Works, stated that the department is currently developing projects for the 2027 Annual Work Program to address drainage issues in the Tremec and Menchaca basins.
Each project is expected to take approximately three months to complete, after which the necessary budget will be determined. Salgado Tovar also mentioned that initial negotiations have begun with Michelin to explore the construction of a regulating basin to help control water levels, though no official agreement has been reached yet. If sufficient funds are not secured during the current administration, the projects may be deferred to the next.
