Querétaro political and infrastructure developments
In Querétaro, Governor Mauricio Kuri González has addressed upcoming political transitions and recent controversies. Regarding the 2027 elections, scheduled for June 6, Kuri stated that cabinet members seeking candidacies must organize their departures in advance and ensure their offices are left in order to avoid administrative delays.
Separately, Kuri commented on the resignation of Guadalupe Taddei Zavala from the presidency of the National Electoral Institute (INE). He noted that her departure leaves suspicions of conflicts of interest following investigations into potential irregularities in contracting and resource triangulation, though he praised investigative journalism for bringing these issues to light.
On infrastructure, the Mexico-Querétaro railway project is facing local scrutiny. State Secretary of Government Eric Gudiño Torres clarified that the planned work on Invierno Street will consist of a depressed roadway rather than a full tunnel, with the underpass limited to the area over the tracks. Additionally, authorities are addressing reports from the Las Brujas residential area, where approximately 27 property walls have reportedly sustained damage linked to railway construction works. The state government has requested technical details and the activation of insurance to address these impacts.
