Querétaro promotes tourism and updates on train terminal environmental requirements
The Querétaro State Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) held a promotional event in Mexico City to showcase the state's tourism offerings to travel agents and event organizers. Led by Tourism Promotion Director Rodrigo Ibarra, the initiative aimed to expand opportunities for group, congress, and convention tourism. The presentation highlighted the region's connectivity, hotel infrastructure, vineyards, cheese factories, and emerging sectors such as wellness and community tourism.
Separately, the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marco del Prete Tercero, announced that the construction of the Mexico-Querétaro train passenger terminal in the Alcanfores area must undergo a state-level environmental impact assessment (MIA). While federal environmental evaluations cover the railway's right-of-way, the terminal and the Invierno street underpass are located outside federal jurisdiction and must comply with state regulations. The pending documentation must include land-use accreditation, vegetation management plans, and environmental compensation measures.
