Querétaro social programs expand support for elderly and retirees
In Querétaro, Mexico, the State Secretariat of Social Development (SEDESOQ) has concluded the registration period for a support program targeting retirees and pensioners from the public basic education sector. The program, coordinated with USEBEQ, saw 6,270 applicants between October 5 and 16, 2026. As a result, 4,766 individuals will receive a one-time economic benefit of up to 3,000 pesos. This initiative covers all 18 municipalities in the state.
Separately, social development officials in Querétaro are emphasizing holistic welfare for the elderly. During a visit to the Josefa Vergara Senior Citizens Club, Secretary Ernesto Mejía Botello stated that state social policy focuses on creating spaces for social connection and development rather than solely providing financial assistance. The club currently supports 52 members with physical activities, medical care, psychological support, and nutritional services.
