Infrastructure and safety updates in Mexico and Chile

Various infrastructure and safety incidents are being addressed across Latin America. In Michoacán, Mexico, the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Obras Públicas (SCOP) has conducted integral cleaning of canals in La Concepción and between La Mintzita and San Juanito Itzícuaro to prevent flooding and sediment buildup during the rainy season.

In Chile, the Dirección del Trabajo ordered the total closure of Mall Plaza Centro in Antofagasta due to electrical installations being exposed to rainwater, posing risks to workers. Additionally, in the Tarapacá region, the Ministry of Public Works confirmed a failure on Route 504 caused by heavy rains, restricting the road to light vehicles only. In Concepción, authorities worked to clear a collapsed storm drain in the Villa Huáscar sector.

Other reported issues include a structural collapse during the Peñuelas drain reconstruction in Querétaro, Mexico, and ongoing complaints regarding the poor condition of the access road to Tortuga Alegre in Argentina.
