Querétaro traffic operation keeps flow while train project progresses

Municipal president Felifer Macías said the traffic operation on Bernardo Quintana has been successful, noting that no vehicular paralysis occurred during the first two weeks of the Mexico‑Querétaro train works. The road now runs with three southbound lanes and two northbound lanes, a roughly 60 % capacity reduction, managed by more than 170 auxiliary personnel and permanent synchronization of 26 signal‑controlled intersections. The mayor announced the operation will continue for another week, with a final lane‑configuration update expected later in the month, and urged drivers to use alternate routes and reduce speed.

Separately, the municipality and the federal Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) defined a conceptual project for a new braking ramp on Federal Highway 57. The ramp could cost between 150 million and 200 million pesos, exceeding the municipal budget and requiring federal financing. Engineers are evaluating a conventional gravel design versus a special retention system similar to those used on aircraft carriers. A definitive design and budget are expected within two months, after which financial contributions from municipal, state and federal levels will be determined.
