Querétaro train works cause traffic congestion and shift schools to virtual classes

Governor Mauricio Kuri González announced that the construction of the Mexico‑Querétaro high‑speed rail, including the widening of the Bernardo Quintana boulevard, will last eight to nine weeks. A special mobility operation with 170 traffic agents will be deployed, and heavy‑load trucks will be restricted from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to ease congestion. The state’s mobility agency reported the highest vehicle load at the intersection of Av. Universidad and Bernardo Quintana and announced a temporary detour to spread traffic more evenly.

The State Education Secretariat (SEDEQ) approved temporary virtual‑learning and remote‑work arrangements for schools and universities within a three‑kilometre radius of the work zone, effective 13 July through 31 August. More than 38 institutions—including the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro and several private colleges—will shift to online classes to reduce travel impacts for students, staff and families. Government offices and some university administrative units will also operate remotely during the same period.
