Querétaro youth complete binational mental health exchange in Uruguay
Thirteen youths from Querétaro, Mexico, selected by the Secretariat of Youth (SEJUVE), have completed the Uruguay-Mexico Binational Exchange Program in Montevideo and Canelones. The initiative, part of the Mexico-Uruguay Joint Cooperation Fund, focused on mental health, community care, and public policy for younger generations.
During the program, the delegation met with Uruguay’s National Director of Social Development, Nicolás Lasa, to discuss binational efforts for youth. The group also visited the National Institute for Adolescent Social Inclusion (INISA) to exchange best practices regarding the juvenile justice system, specifically focusing on creative workshops and mental health support for vulnerable adolescents.
Additionally, the participants joined the launch of the “Compartir nos cuida” public campaign by the National Institute of Youth of Uruguay (INJU), which aims to promote emotional well-being. As a follow-up to this exchange, Uruguayan youth are scheduled to visit Querétaro to learn about the state’s community care and mental health initiatives.
