Quesnel RCMP seek witnesses in fatal Highway 97 hit-and-run

The Quesnel RCMP are requesting witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian near Yellow Marker. The incident occurred on October 5, shortly before 3 a.m., on Highway 97 south.

Officers initially responded to reports of a man sitting on the roadside. While the man was initially transported to a hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, he later died from injuries sustained in the collision. Investigators determined the victim was struck by a red 2023 Volvo tractor-trailer.

Police have since located the vehicle and identified the driver. Authorities are specifically looking for footage from vehicles traveling along Highway 97 south near Yellow Market between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on the morning of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
