Quesos Mondion wins silver at international cheese competition in Uruguay

The Quesos Mondion foundation from Victoria, Chile, achieved a historic milestone by winning a silver medal at the 20th National and International Cheese Competition held in Uruguay. The award was granted in the international category for “semi-hard cheeses for cooking” for their Raclette variety.

The competition featured over 400 samples evaluated by more than 60 national and international judges at the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC). Denisse Escobar, representative of the creamery, noted that the participation was facilitated by Fernando Mayora, a judge who assisted in transporting the samples to the event.

In addition to the Chilean success, companies from San José, Uruguay, also performed strongly in the competition, securing a total of 26 medals across national and international categories. These included gold, silver, and bronze awards for various products such as Gruyere, Ricotta, and Muzzarella.
