Questrade enables extended-hours US options trading

Toronto-based digital financial platform Questrade has announced that approved users can now trade select US equity options and ETFs outside of standard market hours. This service is made possible through the Cboe options exchange, which recently extended its trading sessions.

Eligible clients can place orders starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until 4:15 p.m. on a limited selection of individual stocks and exchange-traded funds. Luca De Blasis, Questrade’s head of product, investment, and trading, stated that the move responds to significant customer demand to react more quickly to market-moving news and geopolitical events.

Questrade noted that trading during extended hours carries higher risks, including lower liquidity, increased price volatility, and wider bid-ask spreads. Consequently, clients are required to use limit orders to manage their entry and exit prices. While Questrade is among the first Canadian brokerages to offer this specific functionality, Interactive Brokers has also confirmed availability for its Canadian clients via Cboe.
