Questrade launches AI‑driven platform with Model Context Protocol
Toronto‑based fintech Questrade announced a major overhaul of its self‑directed investing platform at its summer product showcase on July 30, 2026. The company introduced the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which lets users link popular AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT directly to their Questrade accounts. Through the integration, investors can converse with their chatbots to view real‑time portfolio data, conduct market research and initiate trade orders, with final confirmation required in the app.
Questrade also unveiled a new automated‑trading feature called Flows, allowing users to describe investment rules in plain language that the system executes automatically when conditions are met. Additional updates include pre‑IPO trading capabilities and a refreshed brand identity. The firm, founded in 1999 and managing over $100 billion in assets, claims to be the first Canadian financial institution to offer agentic finance features, positioning itself ahead of domestic rivals such as Wealthsimple and new entrants like Robinhood.
President Rob Galaski described the launch as a “declaration of intent” to deliver a uniquely Canadian platform that removes traditional trade‑offs in financial services.
