Quetta Civil Hospital investigates alleged disappearance of newborn
A family in Quetta has alleged that one of two newborns went missing following a Caesarean section at Quetta Civil Hospital. The mother, Nageena Begum, was admitted to the gynaecology ward on Sunday night.
The family claims that ultrasound reports and records from both the hospital and a private facility confirmed a twin pregnancy, with fetal heart activity detected for both fetuses at approximately 34 weeks. However, they stated that hospital staff handed them only one baby and claimed only one child had been delivered.
Shehzad Ali, the mother’s brother-in-law, has called for a transparent investigation into the whereabouts of the second newborn. In response, Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Abdul Hadi Kakar announced that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the matter and will inform the family of the findings upon completion.
