Quickmart launches Sh15 billion IPO with IFC investment

Quickmart has launched its Sh15 billion Initial Public Offering (IPO) ahead of a planned listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private investment arm of the World Bank, has committed Sh1.94 billion ($15 million) to acquire a 6.5 per cent stake in the supermarket chain. The IFC will purchase 258.67 million shares, representing approximately 13 per cent of the total shares being offered.

The IPO, which opened on October 5, 2026, values Quickmart at Sh30 billion. Investors can apply for shares through three primary methods: a USSD mobile code (*483*803#) for applications up to Sh250,000, an online portal, or via physical application forms. All investors must possess a valid Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC) account.

Quickmart has indicated a commitment to shareholder distributions, aiming to maintain payouts at a minimum of 80 per cent of earnings. The retailer previously distributed Sh1.65 billion in dividends, representing a payout ratio of 109 per cent.
