Quickmart to list 50% stake on Nairobi Securities Exchange

Kenyan supermarket chain Quickmart PLC has announced plans to list 50 per cent of its issued ordinary shares on the Main Investment Market Segment of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). The proposed listing will be executed through an offer for sale of 2 billion existing shares by the company’s sole shareholder, Sokoni Retail Kenya Limited (SRKL).

Quickmart clarified that the transaction will not involve the issuance of new shares, and the company itself will not receive any proceeds from the sale. Instead, the move is intended to introduce public ownership while allowing the existing shareholder to divest a portion of its investment. The offer may include an over-allotment option of up to 15 per cent.

Founded in 2006, Quickmart currently operates 72 stores across 16 Kenyan counties. The retailer reported generating Sh50.4 billion in revenue in 2025, with an adjusted profit after tax of Sh1.7 billion. The company has submitted its application to the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the NSE, with the offer expected to launch around September 30, 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
