Quiet travel trend sees rise in demand for peaceful destinations
A growing trend known as ‘quiet travel’ is shifting consumer preferences toward slower, more intentional holidays. Rather than following packed itineraries or visiting crowded landmarks, travelers are increasingly seeking peaceful destinations, nature, and uncrowded experiences to facilitate relaxation and reconnection.
Research from Expedia Group’s Unpack ’25 report, involving over 25,000 travelers across 19 countries, indicates that 63% of consumers are likely to visit less-known and less-crowded destinations on their next trip. This movement aligns with the broader wellness tourism sector, which the Global Wellness Institute estimates reached $893.9 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to approximately $1.38 trillion by 2029.
