Quigley family sells historic Wimmera farm after 150 years
The Quigley family is selling their historic broadacre farm in Douglas, located in the western Wimmera region of Australia. The family has held the property for over 150 years, tracing its origins back to land selected by Margaret Quigley in 1875.
The farm spans 425 hectares (1,050 acres) and is situated approximately 60km from Horsham and 70km from the South Australian border. The land features a mix of sandy loam and productive clay-based soils, situated in a reliable rainfall district with an average annual rainfall of 525mm.
The property is being offered for sale as a whole or divided into three separate lots. One lot, known as the Oaklands home block, covers 166 hectares (410 acres) and includes two homes, one of which has been recently renovated, along with various sheds including a two-stand woolshed.
