Quiliano to represent Liguria at Colombian Day celebrations

The town of Quiliano will represent the Liguria region during the 2026 Colombian Day celebrations in Genoa. The event is scheduled for Monday, October 12, at Palazzo Ducale.

A central part of the ceremony involves the delivery of olive oil to fuel the votive lamp dedicated to Christopher Columbus, which burns in a lighthouse in Santo Domingo. Quiliano Mayor Nicola Isetta will present the oil, which is produced from the first pressing of olives harvested from municipal groves and processed by Frantoio Cati.

The participation highlights the town's agricultural identity and its historical connection to Vittorio Pertusio, the former Mayor of Genoa, who was instrumental in promoting Columbus's quincentenary celebrations.
