Quilmes and La Plata host events for retirees and disabled
On Saturday, 1 August, organizations Jubilades PTS and Red en Discapacidad convened an open meeting in Quilmes, Buenos Aires Province, to discuss the situation of retirees and people with disabilities and to strengthen collective organization. The gathering took place at 12 de Octubre 427, featured full accessibility and Argentine Sign Language interpretation, and welcomed retirees, disabled persons, families, students and workers.
Later in August, a series of activities for seniors were scheduled in the surrounding region. The Centro de la tercera edad Pétalos de Rosas de Abril in Berisso held its monthly party on 15 August with a buffet and raffles. Additional programs included a choir for engineering retirees in La Plata, a national gaucho‑poetry contest, PAMI‑offered courses and workshops on languages, IT, arts and health, and art classes at the Peña de las Bellas Artes. These events aim to provide social, cultural and educational opportunities for the elderly and disabled communities.
