Quilmes transforms Ezpeleta landfill into public green space

The Municipality of Quilmes has completed the transformation of a chronic landfill located at the intersection of La Plata Avenue and Cuba in Ezpeleta West into a new public green space. The project, supervised by interim mayor Eva Mieri as part of the ‘Quilmes Limpio’ program, involved the installation of sidewalks, lighting, furniture, and landscaping.

Funded entirely by municipal resources, the intervention included the placement of 16 cubic meters of concrete, the reconstruction of curbs, and the installation of protective bollards, benches, and table games. Officials stated the goal is to recover areas affected by improper waste disposal and return them to community use to prevent the formation of new micro-landfills.

In a related infrastructure effort, provincial deputy Mayra Mendoza and Eva Mieri inspected paving works covering 17 blocks in Villa La Florida. This project is part of a larger biennial management plan aiming to reach 1,600 paved blocks, with 1,300 already completed during the current administration.
