Mexico and Argentina report regional security and public works updates

In Mexico, various states reported peaceful Independence Day celebrations. In Puebla, the municipal government launched intensive urban cleaning operations following mass festivities to restore public spaces. Security forces in Sinaloa and Chihuahua also reported a ‘saldo blanco’ (no major incidents) during the festivities, with Sinaloa deploying 15,000 personnel across 20 municipalities to ensure safety during the celebrations and subsequent military parades.

In Argentina, the Municipality of Quilmes is conducting several public works and preventive measures. Interim Mayor Eva Mieri has overseen the delivery of free commercial permits to businesses in Bernal to reduce bureaucracy. Additionally, the municipality is intensifying cleaning and maintenance of stream basins, such as Arroyo Las Piedras, as a preventive measure against potential flooding caused by the ‘El Niño’ phenomenon. This includes the deployment of a new 2,000-ton excavator to strengthen operational capacity.
