Quilmes pedestrian bridge condition sparks controversy

A dispute has emerged in the La Matera neighborhood of Quilmes regarding the condition of pedestrian crossings. Estefanía Albasetti, a councilwoman from La Libertad Avanza, released footage showing a deteriorated metal bridge with holes in the floor and wooden barriers, claiming it was the only route available for residents and students to reach school.

Local activist Pacha, representing Patria Grande, released a video to contest these claims. He demonstrated that a concrete bridge, constructed by the municipality several years ago, is located just meters away and remains in use. While the metal structure is indeed damaged and closed, the presence of the concrete bridge challenges the assertion that residents lack a viable crossing.

Further local reports from residents suggest that both structures may have issues, with some neighbors questioning if the concrete bridge is adequate for safe passage. Digital records from Google Maps indicate the concrete bridge has been in place since at least 2024, contradicting claims that it is a recent installation.
