Tavnik village preserves quince tradition as harvest outlook improves
In the Serbian village of Tavnik, located near Kraljevo, quince cultivation serves as both a cultural symbol and a vital economic driver. The region is home to approximately 60,000 quince trees, averaging about 50 trees per resident.
Following several years of lower yields, local growers are optimistic about the upcoming harvest starting around November 1. Some producers, such as Vlado Obradović, expect significant yields of up to 50 tons. While official purchase prices are yet to be determined, local estimates suggest a price of approximately 60 dinars per kilogram.
