Quinceañera traditions celebrated through local expos and cultural exhibits

Local communities are hosting events to celebrate and support the tradition of quinceañeras, the coming-of-age celebrations for young women in many Latin American cultures.

In Sanford, the Celebrate You Expo is scheduled for September 27 at Luminarias. Presented by Mine and Yours Bridal and Formal Boutique, Events by G, and Luminarias, the expo aims to help families navigate the significant costs and planning required for these events, which can range from $10,000 to $30,000. Local vendors will offer services ranging from venue selection to specialized dresses.

In Syracuse, the La Casita Cultural Center marked its 15th anniversary with a “Quinceañera Dreams” exhibit. The event featured personal memorabilia from celebrations spanning Peru, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Cuba. As part of the milestone, the center hosted a real quinceañera celebration for local resident Escarlette Navarrete, integrating the tradition into the center's anniversary festivities.
