Quincy High School athletics prepare for new seasons

Quincy High School athletic teams are preparing for new seasons following recent successes. The Blue Devils cross country teams are aiming to defend their Western Big 6 Conference championship. The squad features a mix of returning runners and incoming freshmen, including Peyton Hlubek and Hudson Hauk, who previously qualified for state at the middle school level. Junior Charles Ray, a school record holder in the 3,200-meter run, is expected to lead the team.

In volleyball, the Blue Devils opened their season with a straight-set victory over Sacred Heart Griffin. After an initial period of close scoring in the first set, Quincy secured a 25-22 win. They followed this with a dominant 25-10 performance in the second set. Senior Jada Brown contributed 10 kills and two blocks to the win.
