Quinn Hughes contract extension remains pending with Minnesota Wild

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes has yet to sign a contract extension despite entering the final year of his current deal. While fans have expressed growing concern over the delay, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman stated he does not have any "panic" regarding the situation yet, though he admitted to being surprised that a deal has not been finalized.

Friedman predicts Hughes may agree to a three-year extension with an annual salary cap hit of $18 million, which would make him the highest-paid player in Wild history. Some reports suggest a shorter extension might be preferred so Hughes can align his contract with his brothers, Jack and Luke Hughes, potentially allowing them to play together in the future.

Wild General Manager Bill Guerin noted that negotiations are ongoing, stating, "I have been talking to his camp all along. These things take time . . . they are big decisions for players and teams, so it's a process to work through it."
